I was lucky enough to spot this absolute beauty while browsing Ebay two weeks ago, just so happened to come on auction at the very moment I was looking, and the description was brief and the photo's quite ordinary, as you would expect from someone who does not use or collect straight razors, it came with a buy it now price plus make me an offer, well for quite sometime I was looking for an early Filarmonica and a buy it now price here comes the big question do I make him a offer and risk losing the razor or do I buy it now? Well I rode my luck and made him the offer, well 10 minutes later offer excepted and she's mine all mine, well when she arrived my jaw dropped to my chest, not only a superb early Filarmonica but a full 8/8 no hone wear full hollow looks like it's never been honed since it left the factory, wow I couldn't believe my eyes, well there's nothing left to say here she is.

You are right there, the scales and the peening are of a far better quality than most of the Filarmonicas I've work on, I believe these early Filarmonicas had better scales I was given some excellent information by one of the members over on the straight razor forum regarding this.

Curious why you would you have risked loosing the razor if you made an offer? If it were declined couldn't you have opted for the Buy It Now ?? Or is that not allowed?
Well Mike I suppose I like to live a little dangerously, it was a nerve racking 10 minutes wait, I almost jumped through the roof when it came back as offer excepted, and there was also a saving of more than £30 around $46 US dollars after saying that I don't think the razor was worth losing for the extra £30, the razor was one of if not the easiest razor I've ever honed, and what a shaver fantastic, there are very few razors in my collection that I wouldn't sell but this is one of them.
