Sitting in a hotel in Panama after a long day of meetings ... and on the 2nd Caipirinha ... Wondering what is the ONE brush I want to try and haven't had a chance to do so...?

I have tried 70+ brushes and currently own 50+....

I have not tried a Rooney Finest ... And while I am pretty sure it will be too scritchy I will never know until I try....

What is your brush you want to try/own but haven't been able to do so yet?

Rooney Finest can be scritchy, especially the short lofted ones, but at the right specifications (predominately a mid to long loft) they feel more akin to Simpsons Manchurian. Too long and they feel more like Plisson HMW. Of course these are simply approximations and neither are exactly similar.

I loved my Rooney Finest, but now favour the current Simpsons Manchurian.

I sold my Rooney Finest and my Carter Era Manchurian and now own predominately Simpsons Manchurian.

I have owned a huge array of brushes and can't think of a single brush I desperately want to try or re-introduce back into my collection...

As for a holy grail type brush, I already own a size 20 Plisson HMW in genuine Ivory, but I haven't be able to bring myself to use it... yet...

Hmmm.

I do believe I've tried everything that I want to try. Boar to Rooney to Kent to Thater.

If there's one brush yet to try, it doesn't come to mind.

But, if you ask about soaps...well, I can name six quite easily that I'd like to try.

I too have tried pretty much all the brushes I care to. But if pressed to come up with another it would have to be a Simpsons manchurian of some flavor. At one time it was a burning desire, but I'm actually quite content at this time.

For me it would be an M&F in genuine horn.

I've been going through my brushes and if they display a characteristic I'm not happy with, I'm just selling it on.

I want to keep my brush collection to around 30 so still plenty of testing to be done. I no longer feel the need to keep it because it looks pretty, it must perform!

I would love to get my hands on an unused vintage Plisson HMW from the the mid 70's to early 80's, probably the most beautiful hair ever used.

I'd like to try a Simpson Tulip 3, that being said I should have some nice brushes from Mr Sabini when I get home from overseas.

My favourite brush so far would have to be the M7 in Manchurian. I also have this beauty coming from Germany shortly.

If you were to find one and acquire it, would you use it or display it only?

For me, the perfect brush is the Simpson Chubby 3 in Super 2-band. My first runner-up is the Simpson Chubby 3 in Super 3-band.

I have owned a CH3 Manchurian, a size 18 Plisson and a 30mm vintage Rooney Finest. The Rooney Finest and Plisson were both way too scratchy for me. The Manchurian was also a bit stiff for my taste, but much more enjoyable than the Plisson or Finest.

Hi Dipesh, the brush is made by Sebastian Aulitzky of Pinselwerkstatt Aulitzky (http://www.wunschpinsel.de). I found out about Sebastian from a post by Elbe on Shavenook. Sebastian is a pleasure to deal with and sends me regular emails with picture updates. It's taken about 6 weeks which is fine by me, it's an enjoyable project Smile The knot is 28mm with a 59mm loft. He's also been kind enough to re-knot a firehouse handle with a fan-shaped silvertip knot for me. Can hardly wait.

I've thought some more about this topic.

I WOULD like to try a Plisson, just to say I had done so.

There seems to be too much variance in user experience for me to be comfortable buying one without trying the specific one first.

I'm unwilling to take the chance acquiring one and then having to sell it off at a loss if it wasn't satisfactory.

Frankly, I have tried almost everything I've wanted to try. I'd like to give an Ace Shaving knot a try...love the bang-for-buck offerings and have not held onto anything over $100 because I couldn't justify it to myself.

I would like to try a Simpson 57 with Manchurian hair. I've already got the Douglas (a 2 band LE 57) and love it, but I keep wondering what Manchurian will be like. One day, funds permitting....

Possibly an M&F with a briar handle. Not even sure what model but I'll see what lee has available when we make contact.
