i would love to join in on this, but none of the vintage Gillette safety-bar/closed-comb razors work for me.
i do like the Redtip out of all of them, though as it is nice and heavy.

Gonna go with the 40's. I have a Red Tip, Blue Tip, 40's (naturally), and a Flare (TV Special), but when I want a SS, I reach for my 1953 almost all the time. The Red Tip is number 2 though.

I've only used the 40's, flare, and blue tip - of those I'll give a slight edge to the 40's superspeed.

I had to choose the red tip, although I don't reach for any of them much anymore.

My favorite of all time is the heavy red tip. Although not a lot of blade exposure it still shaves wonderfully.

My favorite is a 40's style (1952). It sees use all fall and winter when I prefer a milder razor.

I wasn't able to get good shaves from SuperSpeeds. I prefer the Gillette 3-pieces, even the Tech.

I have only shaved with the 1956 flare tip, does the red tip has the same blade exposure?

I really like the black handle super speed. I've used the 40's, flare tip, Knack, blue tip, and the black handle super speeds and the black handle was the one that provided the best results. It also looks the nicest, as far as I'm concerned.

Haven't found one I really like yet. I do love my short Super Adjustable, though. Best Gillette TTO for my face. Maybe I need to try and trade one of my 50s era Superspeeds for a black handle.

All of them! I have at least one each of these razors, and I enjoy them all. The shaves can be a bit different between them--but I think that they're all fine shavers.

I think that I like the looks of the black-handled version best. After that, I think that I prefer the flare tips.

Haven't tried the black handle. The flare tip was the only one that i did not like.
The 40's is truly a classic. The blue and red are nice variations, good in their own way.

If you go strictly by the Superspeed designation, then my favorite is the 'red tip'. If you go by body type it would have to be the Ranger 41/46. And moving over to the UK, the aristocrat jr.

I'm not much for the Gillette TTO's, but of those listed, definitely the Red Tip, followed by the 40's SS.

I much prefer the British TTO's (Rocket, Jr. Aristocrat).
