None at all Biggrin

Its actually my favorite Bay Rum, its not sweet like Clubman's signature "Ginger bread cookie" scent, its not soft like TOBS, and its not rough like the Ogalla, which to my nose just smells horrible and lacks the complexity of a true Bay Rum.

Dominica is very sharp and crisp, with the right amount of "sting" ie alcohol for my skin. The only fault I have with it, the scent fades faster than any Bay Rum I have ever used.

I've always wanted to try this one. Supposedly this the "true" bay rum, the one that set the standard. Its just alcohol, water, and laurus nobilis oil. And its a great value too ($13 for 10 oz.)

But I have a goodly amount of Krampert's Finest and I have not yet been able to build up enough other shave "goodies" to add a bottle of Dominica to an order (not to mention that a few of the on-line vendors I tend to favor - i.e. Bullgoose - don't carry it).

I wonder how many bottles you would end up with if you bought each and every Bay Rum After-Shave that you came across.

probably never met a bay rum I didn't like, but.....this one I find a bit drying and reddening. (Old Man Skin Syndrome) So, instead of using it as a mainstay post-shave, use it occasionally for a between-shave freshen up, then I seem to fare okay with it.
(Post-post edit: has ALOT of alcohol in it.)

Have you ever used Clubman's? That stuff burns far worse than Dominica lol.

I'm a Captain's Choice BR man myself, but if you'd like two in the stable, Phil carries Meehan's BR and it's excellent.

I would say Dominica is the standard when it comes to judging Bay Rum. It has no unusual traits, its my idea of what a traditional Bay Rum should smell like, and its inexpensive. This is my third place hot weather Bay Rum

St.Lucia is very spicy and not the best for summer. It does not have a traditional Bay Rum scent. Its very much in your face compared to the others.

Trumpers is light on spice and heavy on clove, and its good any time of year.

Royal is stronger than Dominica but traditional none the less. Royal does however, have Menthol and follows Trumper for something nice in the hot weather.

I concur that Dominica is the gold standard for bay rum. I love it. Unfortunately, my skin doesn't agree, and I have had to sell off this and my other bay rums. Great scent.

I like Krampert's, but there's no kick to it. Maybe this or Captain's Choice are the answer?

When I want that sting/slap in the face I use my Captain's Choice. When I'm wanting to pamper my face I use my Krampert's Bay Rum.

Someday I may try the others, starting with the Dominica.

I hope it's better than their shave soap.

I'm no bay rum connoisseur. In fact, I don't care much for spicy fragrances. But I bought a bottle of DBR because I found it locally, and I absolutely love the stuff. It is straight up bay leaf, with no clove or other spices in the mix. I find it crisp, clean, natural, and very manly. When I lived in Ann Arbor, I'd get my hair cut at The Coach & Four, a good old fashioned barbershop. They'd always splash on some bay rum at the end, so I associate this scent more than anything else with "barbershop." Their bay rum (not sure which one) had clove and cinnamon on it, and it wasn't something I'd use myself. But DBR is just perfect to my nose. And unlike some of the others here, I love what it does for my skin. I don't get much burn from it at all, and it leaves my skin feeling just right. On days where I feel I need a little extra moisturizing, I mix it with a dab of 444, a phenomenal combination. Later in the day, I enjoy splashing some more on, as it smells so nice and leaves me feeling refreshed.

I have a sample of Captain's Choice BR, which I've used 3 or 4 times. It's good stuff, too, but I like the bay scent of DBR better. It just smells more natural to me for some reason. I also find the scent of DBR lasts on me longer than CCBR, at least 4-5 hours.

I used my DBR for the first time today. All I will say is that there will be a bottle of this stuff in my regular rotation. I agree with what Andrew said above.

I found it has moved up from my regular rotation to my preferred AS and something I splash on whenever I get the notion.
