LARGE THIERS ISSARD SILVER TIP in SOLID LIGHT HORN

Knot: 26 x 52mm
Handle Height: 58mm

I have two of these brushes one in dark horn (that you will have to pry from my cold dead hands) and the one I'm offering today.

The dark (which is identical to the light) has really soft tips and is quite dense. It has ample back bone and good flow through.

I have so many Plisson light horn handled brushes, so the TI is getting cut. I actually like the handle of the TI's better, the solid feel gives it a much higher quality feel IMO.

It is UNUSED, I have only used the dark one.

It retails at 157 pounds or about 245 USD (plus shipping).

$190 including shipping ***REDUCED TO $180***

For mor info here is a link to the UK retailer...

Ben, how soft is "very soft"? Like Simpson 2 Band, or 3 Band Super? Or more like shavemac Silvertip?

Ben, could you tell us more about the hair? I haven't heard much about these brushes on the forum.

There are some mixed reviews on the various forums. All reviewers applaud the quality solid handle (rating it well above Plisson). Some reviews liken the hair to Rooney and it has been suggested that they are rebranded Rooney brushes, but they are allegedly hand made (or maybe assembled for the conspiracy theorists) in Theirs by a small company for TI. The brush has been criticized for lacking backbone, but the was prior to the introduction of an additional 20 to 30% more hair. It is IMO not at all floppy, but it's no 2 band either. It reminds me most of 2005 Shavemac (3 band) and Rooney Heritage (3 band). I can't quite explain it, but it had a "cleaner" feel...

There is further info here:

Quote: "It took Thiers Issard two years to find this badger hair quality.
They are fully handmade in France. This means the hair gets hand selected, formed and bound by hand and put in the handle by hand.
Even the superbadger quality is superb and better than most silvertip.
The handle is inspired by a historical design and made from the same high quality horn as the razor handles too."

I just read that they are no longer being made. I'm now having second thoughts about parting with it...

That is a truly gorgeous handle and if the hair is really as nice as the 2005 Shavemac I just bought from Ben, then this is a terrific brush and I don't blame Ben for having second thoughts.

I just bought six brushes so I am tapped out right now; otherwise, I would have jumped on this one.
