A few months ago somebody posted a thread about Valobra coming out with a hard soap puck. I recently purchased a Valobra Fougere bath soap, and it's fragrance is most wonderful. I emailed Valobra asking if they were ever going to reintroduce the Fougere scented soft soap or create a hard Fougere soap scented like the bath soap. Here is Guglielmo's response.

"Dear Mr.,

Thank you very much for your e-mail. I am pleased to inform you that a Valobra hard shaving soap in a puck shape is under development and will be ready for the market by August-September.

Although the Valobra stick shaving soap has the same fragrance of the Fougere soap but in a much smaller percentage the new soap in a puck will have a boosted Fougere scent.

Kindest regards,

Guglielmo Valobra"

One of my favorite soaps and not milling the sticks would be a great bonus. We've been disappointed before with new roll-outs from other manufacturers but here's hoping this launches as planned! Cool

Agreed. Valobra hard soap is about the only commercial shave prep I'm going to keep in my den long-term, and the prospect of a more potent scent in puck form is very exciting. Fingers crossed.

Very interesting. Wasn't Phil trying to work with Valobra for this very thing? Hmm

A bit disheartening that this did not work out for Phil as this was his idea. I am so conflicted on this soap. I love lavender and fern scented soaps / splashes and Valobra has a good rep so ..... man I think I have to try this.

Just goes to show the magical power that our very own Phil has behind the closed doors.

When they would not agree to non-compete clause, I knew something was afoot. Dodgy Good thing I did not spring for the 2500 puck minimum.

Yikes! I think you made the right call, Phil. You can always take credit for getting the ball rolling on this, though!

2500 puck minimum, wow. Is that a normal size minimum order from a company when are ordering?

My recollection is that he was working it with them. Therefore, I will remain somewhat skeptical until I a read some reviews from our experienced brethren here at the Nook.

I was wondering if it was something like that. Sorry Phil, but glad you didn't get burned financially on that one.

Yes...if you are having them custom make a soap (custom scent) for you, the minimum is 2,500 pieces. With MWF, I believe it was 5,000 pieces.

5,000 seems high, but I don't think 2,500 pieces for a custom manufacturing run is out of line. The issue comes into play if the company (Valobra in this case) decides to ALSO come out with the scents. That undermines your ability to market the soaps. I would have to assume that someone (Phil in this case) would have to reach out to other vendors as well to carry "his" soap. No offense meant to Phil at all, but I can't imagine how long it would take to sell 2,500 custom soaps if only carried at BGS.
