To all you knowledgeable Gentlemen, I will shortly be taking a holiday to London and the shave mecca district is obviously high on my agenda. A new brush is a potential purchase and after doing some research on the forums etc I think I have narrowed it down to the following : T&H Wellington Medium (Rooney 2/1), Simpson Duke 2, D R Harris H2. I would love to include a genuine Rooney 2/1 in this list but I can't find who stocks them, so I guess the re branded T&H is the best I can do there. Can anyone compare the above, and offer me any insights and experiences? Much appreciated!

I don't have any of these, but here's a thread with a good response to the Harris H2:

At the D. R. Harris shop you will have both Harris and Simpsons brushes. That shop is one of the best places in London to buy a Simpsons brush (and a D.R. Harris, of course).

The H series from D. R. Harris seems to be made by Simpson/Vulfix.

The Wellington range of shaving brushes, by T&H, seems to have been made by Rooney in the recent past, but they recently (and allegedly) switched recently for Simpsons/Vulfix too.

Take a look here, there's a series of photos that may be of help. Sorry, I wrote all of that in Portuguese (one day I'll translate all that stuff into English and put it here... Tongue)

In all the shops (either T&H, GFT, TOBS or DRH), you may notice also that their brush offering is wider than in the corresponding websites, for they also have in stock different (old?) units that aren't available anywhere else. For example, when I visited T&H, they had brushes with real horn handles for sale. Another good example is this shelve at T&H:

I havent tried the Rooney 2/1 , but the D.R. Harris H2 is a great shaving brush , and also the H 1 and H3 too.I find the H2 more "balanced" , since the H1 is perfect for facelathering and the H3 is more suitable for bowl lathering , but the H2 is good for both task.Very well packed with hair and a great handle (better than the Simpson Duke 2)

A BIG THANKS to everyone for their replies and to Gary for his generous offer! Will keep you posted how I go...

One thing is for certain, The Shave Nook is by FAR the friendliest shaving forum on the 'net. It is great to get helpful advice to questions and friendly general chatter on all topics. After all we do share a common hobby/interest Biggrin

bundah, when your in London, if you meet up with Gary, you better have a camera with you. We can't be there but we would sure like to take the tour with you and Gary.

I know a guided tour by Gary Young would be on my high list of priorities.
