I'm having a pretty good one. My 34-year-old son, who shut me out of his life a couple years ago when he was going through a very difficult time, sent me an email today apologizing and asking if we can re-connect.

That is pretty special John. As a stupid young man I did that for a couple of years till I found out that mom was in serious condition. I drove to my home town and saw them both at the hospital. I was shaking like a leaf. I got nothing but a big hug from the family (I was lucky).

BTW, she recovered.

Exactly what I was thinking Sam!

Our dogs both gave me a lick and few wags of their tails. No kids here.

Yeah, they're definitely our children. Or child substitutes anyway.

John, I hope everything went well with your son...

I had a great day with the wife and Beta son (Alpha son was with his dad).

First they took me out for breakfast...
