In 1980 the movie Blue Brothers, starring Dan Akroyd and John Belushi, premiered. A milestone in movie comedy. "We're on a mission from God."

And on this date in 1967 the Monterey International Pop Festival ended. I spent the night there sleeping under a bush in a public park, without getting rousted by the police, and attended the festival, managing to see Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. High times, as they say....

Well sir, you got to see two of the greats. I was lucky enough to see the two of them two years later at Woodstock. Those were the days.

I missed seeing the Who, Otis Redding, the Jefferson Airplane, the Mamas and the Papas, and Ravi Shakar, however. Fortunately Monterey was not as wet and muddy as Woodstock, although I've always been sorry I missed the latter.

Yes sir there was mud, and a lot of it. But I am so glad I went and it is an experience that I will never forget. A once in a lifetime event.

I suspect Johnny was more of a primal drummer than a flower child.

You would suspect correctly. But I loved those flower children women. Biggrin
