Forgot to post this earlier this morning, but last night while shaving I had a horrible experience. I showered like I normally do at night and decided to have a nightly shave. After my shower I began my prep by soaking my badger brush. After brushing my teeth I started loading up some Cella with ease and went to down doing a standard three pass shave using my 34C and a 2nd time use of a Personna blue lab blade. After the passes and touch ups I noticed that the shave wasn't quite as good and what I had been getting with med preps. I figured what the heck, maybe my lather wasn't up to par and since I have been doing so much lather practice lately with creams I said what the heck and lathered up some TOBS lavender for soem more touch ups. Big, BIg, BIG mistake. After all this I splashed on some AV Ice Blue and then some unrefined shea butter. After about an hour I went to the mirror to check out my face that was feeling weird and noticed redness and a reaction like I was a kid with acne. I'm sure I'm the only idiot that would ever do this, but I would definitely advise against itSmile

I think he's referring to shaving too many passes & causing irritation.

He's definitely not the only one to have done this. I've done this way Tooley times than I care to admit.

I guess the bottom line is : You don't need to get a BBS every time you shave.
A DFS is good enough most of the time, and sometimes when you try to get a BBS you may end up with severe case of razor burn that can last for 2 weeks. I' speaking from experience, as I must admit I have made this mistake before Blush

I can go for a BBS but I have a few spots where it will cause problems. I also agree the best is always a DFS. BBS is a term that leeds newbies down the wrong road quite often.

The mistake was I put two different scents on my face in my opinion. A complete shave with Cella and then another shave with TOBS lavendar. I guess all that along with AV with the unrefined butter caused me to have an allergic reaction. My face was puffy in areas. I guess this all came fromto much product on my face, but who knows.

Possibly an allergic reaction. Still sounds like too many passes of sharp metal across soft skin.

Definitely. Whenever I have a rough shave is usually due to trying too hard to achieve too close of a shave.

A combination of all of the above. One product, two passes, and I'm done.

IMO, too many passes, especially if you have previously used these products without irritation...

+1 on this. DFS is usually better than close enough for looking presentable to the public eye.

A BBS can be irritating. I find that a DFS shave looks just as clean as a BBS. The only way I can tell the difference is to feel against the grain in certain areas of my face.

Sounds to me like--- Too many passes, Too much pressure.... I did it to my self last week... Got a little aggressive with my Flying Wing with a brand new blade... Got a nice case of razor burn. 1st time in a while for me too.... Plus I was working outside in 94 degrees. Sawdust flying and I wanted to rip my neck out!!! lol... A bit of KFBR got me straight.. These things happen. We all do it or have done it from time to time...
