This morning I have my first shave with a TFS soap, bergamot and neroli, and found the soap to be excellent. Excellent lather. The question is for those who used both, can the new BDF line made by TFS really be significantly better?

I would think that the laws of chemistry and physics limit how well a shaving soap or cream can perform. Of course, there are poor and so-so performers. But relative to a high quality soap like TFS, how much better (and in what ways)could the BDF stuff be?

Well...you get twice as much BDF as TFS and the tub of the BDF is nicer. Biggrin In terms of performance, it is the same.

I personally prefer the scents of the BDF soaps but, YMMV

Tend to agree, but I migh give a slight nod to BDF - both excellent soaps though.

Now there's an honest man. Thank you.

Thanks for your input. It seems consistent with Phil's.

Barbiere di Figaro, the supplier.

They have made some TFS limited editions:

TFS LE Pelli Sensibili, bitter almond scent
TFS LE Oli Essenziali, orange and lime
TFS LE Fragranze Esotiche, patchouli, tabacco verde and sandalwood

The packages are pretty nostalgic:

recently i received some samples from barbieri di figaro and found the TFS does not work for me. It gave me a horrible shave, as opposed to Cella and Vitos Extra.

I humbly recommend it ...

Both perform similarly, a good lather with a scent on the medium-light side. The BdF soaps are more complex scent-wise and offer a more modern, almost cologne-like aroma. Of the two I would rather use the BdF, but I would also choose many other Italian soaps ahead of both.
