Hello fellow nookers,

I wanted to find which ones are your favourite blades. I thought it was a toss-up between the Pros and Captain Milds until I recently tried out the Super Pros I received with a recent order. Smooth and sharp - reminded me of my traditional straight shaves. Looking forward to further experimentation with them!

Kind regards,

Ash

I have tried Kai Milds, Feather Pro and Dorcos, so far other than the defective Dorco blade that was not sharp to start with they are all decent, but the Feather Pros would be my blade of choice. After the first few shaves they seem to hit a zone of about six or seven shaves where I get smooth and close shaves before they start to deteriorate and cause irritation again. The Kai and Dorcos also hit that zone but it only lasted a couple shaves before past their prime.

The pros were just too sharp for me. For the first 2 or 3 shaves I could only go WTG. The next 2 passes had to be done with a Merkur HD with a Shark blade. The Pro-Guards last as long or longer than the Pros did and I could do all three passes on the first shave.

Feather Pros are amazing for me ... highly efficient but a little harsh on the first use, but then smooth and efficient for at least 7 uses ... with the Cobra.

The Kai milds are the best for me, they last well over 15 shaves and stay sharp the longest (unfortunately they cost twice as much as the other ones). Followed by Super Pro, Pro and Dorco's. Lights and all Guarded blades don't work for me at all.

Feathers didn't live up to the hype for me. The first shave was ok, nothing any better than most blades, but that's all I can get out of them. I do a three pass routine. By halfway thru the second day they have lost all smoothness, pulling and tugging. I gave them three tries out of three different packs, same thing.
It's a YMMV thing I know but currently my best all around blade choice is Gillette 7 o'clock Yellows.

When I had my Cobra Classic I preferred the Kai Captain Mild blades over the Feather Pros but not by much.

Once upon a time I wanted to try the Kai blades. Did, won't again! Beyond sharp.
Sticking to the Feather Proguard. Excellent blade for me!

I recently bought a SS and a Pro! Really liked it! Already ordered the other Feather blades.

In my Cobra my favourite is the Feather Pro.

In my Feather AC SS, RG and DX it's the Feather Pro Guard.

I have the Feather Super, but haven't tried them yet.

I didn't really like the Feather Light.

The Kai are good but don't last as long as the Feather Pro.

I haven't had an opportunity to try the Kai with the Guard, but would really like to.

If I could only choose one, it would be the Feather Pro, if I could choose two, I would add the Feather Pro Guard.

I used the Feather Pro Guards when I had my Cobra. Everything else I allowed to abuse me.

I've tried Dorco, Feather Pro, Feather Super Pro and Kai Sharp. Feather Super Pro was by far the best shave. The blade extends a bit further than the regular Pro.

I find this so strange, I've tried all of the existing blades in my razors and only the guarded blades give me shaves that are not to my liking while so many others seem to love them. Must be me .....
