PLEASE DO NOT PARTAKE IN THIS POLL UNLESS YOU HAVE USED BOTH.

Yesterday I received a PM regarding one of my BST sales with the person who PM'd me offering up a couple SS razors and a tub of Cella in trade.

I replied that I already owned a SS as well as two full tubs of the superior P.160 of which I think Cella is a poorer cousin. Angel He responded back that I was wrong. Dead wrong. His take is that Cella is far superior to the "weak" P.160.

If you have used both, which do you prefer? There are no third options as I don't want to hear "Vito's is the best" or "I like them both". One has to be superior in your mind to the other.

Edit: As requested, here is the exact quote; "Thanks, but you are wrong....P160 is a poor substitute for Cella....P160 is a weak copy cat"

Edit #2: Despite a couple requests, no I will not name the person, but as of 7pm central they have NOT voted so don't take any Cella votes as that being the person.

How many steps in the stairway to heaven? That's how many steps that P.160 is above Cella!

Well yes, that is exactly how I feel about it too. When I first started traditional shaving I tried Cella and a few other of the almond croaps. I honestly never understood what the fuss was about. Then when P.160 became discontinued due to a death in their family, I decided to get a tub from Joe while it was still available. OMG what wonderful lather and slickness. I picked up a second tub so I could at least have two jars of it.

I give the nod to P.160, BUT ONLY JUST. Cella is an awesome soap, in fact I prefer the scent of Cella over the P.160, however, performance wise, P.160 is the better IMO.

P.S. My comments relate to the Morbido. For some reason, the Duro did not quite match the performance of its softer relation.

So close you won't vote eh? Angel

And yes, the Morbido, like I said the croaps. I won't put Duro down as a croap.

Huh I wonder if the person actually ever used P.160? For me this is like reading of a glowing review of Dorco blades.

First I'd like to start by saying that I've never used a bad Italian croap; even Cella. But there is one on the bottom of the list, and every other croap is above that one IMO.

P160 a weak copy cat? If so, they got it so much better than Cella. I'll take the weak copy cat over the "original" any day!

It's simply no contest if one wants performance during the shave. If one wants cheap synthetic sweet fragrance and lots of it, then Cella is the clear winner as long as nothing else is taken into account. I do have to give Cella its due as far as lathering. I believe anyone can lather it, but I'll take the p.160 lather any day over Cellas.

After P.160 was declared soon to be extinct, I stocked up on it. If Cella were to do the same, well, I already have plenty. It is quite easily replaced IMO. Cella is a mid quality soap with no special attributes; it can't hold a candle to P.160.

In my opinion it's quite difficult to find a croap that isn't better than Cella. I consistently place it at the bottom of the list of Italian croaps. Even the far less expensive (when I looked last) 3P is better than Cella for me.

I assume we are comparing Tipo Morbido to Cella? If that is so, then it's an upgrade, perhaps only because P160 has a more original formulation, perhaps with more pure ingredients.
Tipo Duro is quite different, a harder soap, but equally as good.

Comparing all three only, I would say that P160 is ahead of Cella. But if you include other soaps, the these three rank very closely. All three are excellent soaps.

No offense to the many Cella lovers, but there's no comparison. P.160 wins by a long stretch.

I've come to terms with Cella since converting her to stick form. We like each other enough that I let her stay around, but she just isn't on my go-to list.

P.160 burned my face, Cella didn't. But then again, I preferred TFS Barbe Rosse to both.

Yes, of course Morbido. I don't consider Duro as a croap more is it what people think of when you say P160.

I forgot I have a big tub of P160 under the sink in an airtight container. I bought the giant block at some point and gave some away and kept the rest. I believe its the softer stuff. I don't shave every day and with all the soaps and creams I forgot I even had it. Smells like almond paste, good stuff!

Had the Cella before, gave it to a friend to get him started. Cella didn't even come close. Had a crap scent to it as well.

The complexity of P160 is what makes it more appealing to me. It's the cushion and the slickness, the lather quality and duration and the overall skin care provided after the shave that for me make it better than Cella. That said, I actually prefer the subdued scent of Cella to the bright Marzipan scent of the P160, so in that respect I'd say they are correct, but ONLY in the scent respect as all other factors are better with the P160.

Above the P160 for me is the Antica Barbieri Colla Mandorla Amaro (Bitter Almond) as it is better than both in all regards, and the Boellis Panama 1924 is better than the ABCMA and P160 put together IMO. YMMV in the last comparison, as always.
