Hi lads, can I just say what an awful, sad day it must be for you Americans. It has been on the news here in the uk about the deaths of 19 (at the time of writing this) firefighters, who have been killed battling a terrible fire in central Arizona.
These lads and often lasses put themselves in the front line everytime they are called upon.
This is a seriously bad day.

I just seen this on the news. It is terrible, and thoughts and prayers go out their comrades and families.

Our son is a firefighter/paramedic for Dallas, and I have a lot of respect for these guys and gals who put themselves in harms way.

I heard last night on the Radio that they were missing and that they had expected that they had died in the fire.

Wildfires are bad enough and they were trying to save a town and during the course of fighting the fire the wind changed directions and then the fire virtually surrounded them.

As well, I am shocked and saddened by the deaths of these 19 people. I met many of these "hotshots" years ago amid the huge Yellowstone Park fire. They are extraordinary individuals.

Those guys were physical and mental STUDS! Prescott FD only has 92 fire positions. They lost nearly a quarter of their members. So tragic.
