Hi lads,Geordie Sam here,I'm awaiting delivery of my first ever shave soap (Tabac) and I have just bought a chunky ceramic square cooking pot to act as my shave bowl,it only cost a couple of quid, here is my question, and I hope it's not a stupid one,it sits well in my hand and measures 3 inches across by 2 inches deep (these are internal measurements) is this big enough to whip up a good lather.?
Thanks.

Sam.

I'm not sure how the square part will work, and it sounds a wee bit small.

It's square on the outside but round on the inner.

Several of my scuttles, which work well for me, have an inner diameter at the bottom of 3-3.5". However, the diameter at the top of the bowl is 4-4.5". If your bowl is 3" all the way up, your brush handles will probably hit against it a lot when you are building lather.

My beloved copper bowl is a little over 11cm across and a little under 5cm deep... so I would find your bowl a bit on the small side Sam. However, YMMV and all that - I also have a acacia wood bowl that's about 8 cm aross and less than 3cm deep, and it makes decent lather even if it takes more work.

I think you can use whatever bowl that makes you happy.
