Won this at auction and I think I got it at a fair price. I have not received it yet so I am hoping its in good condition. The description said "excellent condition"
but you know how that goes. The gold Progress has been out of production for many years. I think Merkur is eliminating all their gold finish razors. There is only a few models left.

That is correct. The models that are left (34G, 37G and the Gold Futur) are actually out of production and are NOS. I believe Merkur stopped making Gold razors last summer although I could be wrong.
Nice score by the way.

I am happy to say I received the gold Progress today as described by the seller. The good news is it had no patina on it just needed a gentle dose of lemon scented Scrubbing Bubbles. Came out fantastic and so close to mint condition I am amazed. The owner apparently kept it in its original paper box.
The seller left the blade in it (dumb) but no harm no foul. It was a Gillette that said made in USA. After cleaning and drying I inserted a Personna medical blade (made in USA) for tomorrow morning's shave. The blade alignment is perfect so no problem there. One thing I did notice is this Progress weighs only 2.4 oz on my digital scale. I believe the newer ones weigh more.
