Last time I looked T&H had only one soap of mediocre quality.

Anyone try the new soaps? And if so how did you like them?

I'm just wondering if they might be worth a try.

Well, they now have 3 of mediocre quality. Personally, I'd save your money. The lather is useable if you go to town on loading your brush, but it's nowhere close to say that of D.R. Harris, another English brand.

Figures. Truefitt seems to continue their "it must be good because its expensive" marketing ideology.

I know a few of the scented creams and balms, and the Ultimate products are some what popular but they just don't seem to offer the value the others do.

Unfortunately, that is the thinking of Geo. F. Trumper(another English brand)and one or two others also. I have written several emails to Trumper over the past year and they seemed totally surprised by my comments with regard to their latest formulation.
To be honest, I am not fussed. There are too many excellent soaps around to waste time with those that don't produce.

Well, i have a T&H 1805 soap, and i very much like it, it develops a great lather, so i find mysel surprised to read this.

I don't know if MINE is an exception, but now i'm worried that whem the time comes to refill it, i would find a mediocre soap..

It could be a case of good and bad batches like Trumper's. Some are good and others not. The problem is you have no idea what you are buying- you take the chance. Sounds like you were the lucky one with your purchase.

Me too, and I'm English!Sad
D.R. Harris and Mitchell's Wool Fat are the only two English brands I will buy now in current formulation. Czech & Speake is also excellent but that brand of soap is made by Valobra.

haha, congrats on the sincerity.

I sold my MWF, the lack of scent really took all the fun away. BUT my DR harris Marlborough arrived this week, and i cant wait to use it.Tongue

Mind note: Never buy hard soaps from T&H and GFT again, only creams.

All the scents in the Harris range perform superbly(excluding the Naturals soap). Enjoy the Marlborough.

I believe that the T&H creams represent good value, as they lather superbly with a minimum of product. I have a tub of rose that is about 1/4 gone after more than a year, as part of a 12 product rotation (plus, I shave every day). The cost per use is very economical over the long haul, the scents are great and the lather is top notch. All of that is, of course, my personal experience and opinion.

But...the T&H 1805 shave soap I bought is a disappointment. It will produce a stable usable lather that smells just as nice as the cream - at 10x the effort and it is certainly not a value at the price.

For me, English soaps begin and end at DR Harris. I could use Arlington and Windsor soap till the end of my days and be content (ish).

Truefitt & Hill / Geo F Trumpers: Creams only
DE Harris: Soaps only

Tim speaks truth.

T&H 1805 cream is and will probably remain my favourite product ever. smells phenomenal and performs for me absolutely flawlessly.

In fairness the creams made by DR Harris are also top notch but if you are looking for an English soap they are definitely the one to go for.

I have the T&H 1805 in my rotation (MWF, DR Harris Marlborough and GF Trumper Coconut are other british hard soaps I'm regularly using) and I must say that although, at the beginning, it took me a while to get a good lather from T&H 1805, now I'm very pleased with it and I'm enjoying it a lot. Usually, I lather it on my face with a New Forest Tubby 2 brush and the results are fantastic in every way.
