Most dealers here in the USA still have that model and unless they specifically discribe it as the 2013 model that is probably what you will get.

According to Muhle and the U.S Distributor it was a rumor and the Muhle R41 has not been updated since 2011. Most U.S. sites have the disclaimer because we are asked about it ad nauseam.

Without any question there is a difference in blade exposure between the R41 2011' and so called 2013' model. I had both and measured them very carefully. As far as what Muhle calls them (R41) yes no changes but the head is definitely different. If Muhle would have only changed the 2013' model to a different number that would have solved a lot problems that they themselves created.

There are, in fact, two versions. The R41 2013 has been available in Europe for over six months. It is not currently available to U.S. vendors through their distributor. U.S. vendors still stock the R41 2011 model.

Here are some photos of the differences between the two versionn:

It appears there were two versions of the new R41. Both however came about in 2011.

Or so I have been toldWink The "2013" being the second 2011 change.

About the photo on the bottom (far right). It's the 2013 model (less blade exposure).

And it's true there were two R41 models prior to this year--one (2010) was an OC model (fairly mild) and the second (2011) was the "tooth-comb" model (very aggressive).

FWIW, you'll be getting the most aggressive model.

Yes, you're definitely getting the most aggressive model. I've been using a '13 for the past few days and while it's a great shave, it has been domesticated a bit. The '11 absolutely yields a closer shave. I get a few more hours of BBS then DFS from the '11. The '13 is a bit more forgiving however (the '11 is an untamed beast!). Pay attention when shaving with the '11 and you're good, let your attention wander and the beast take the opportunity to bite.

I like them both at this time. I need a spare '13 now; and another razor stand and UFO handle.

Would I let my wife shave my neck with either one after a haircut? Absolutely not.

Regardless of what Muhle claims, the differences between the 2011 and the 2013 are quite obvious - that has been documented beyond all doubt at this point.

One was bought from Connaught Shaving but Bullgoose has them as well.

I was able to trade my 'll for a '13. I'm very pleased with it now. Got an excellent shave yesterday with it.
