There is a place in New England and a place in the UK that does but I'm not sure what there names are. I know other members here have used both so hopefully they will chime in.

Are you asking about razor restoration services?

Reliable Electroplating is in Chartley, MA, and has a great reputation. I know its a "go to" place for a lot of people on B&B. They do a lot of plating besides just razors. Don't bother emailing them; if you are interested you need to call.

Restored Razors is another replating/restoration service with a great reputation. Its a one-man shop, based in the UK, who is a long-time member of B&B as well ("onotoman").

If I was to get a razor replated, I would look first to them. There are lots of others, but these two always seem to pop up in any of "best of" discussion.

No sir, see the post above for the place in MA. That is the one I was referring to when I said New England.

Stan from Abovethetie does amazing replating. As does Dave from RestoreRazors in the UK.

RR did some work for me, fixed a loose handle and replated a couple posts. They also replated a couple razors for a buddy of mine and turned out fantastic.

I'd contact Dave at RestoredRazors in the UK. aside from a bit of shipping time, his work was excellent and shipping was fast and quite reasonable both ways.

My experience with him was for a "repair" as well, but had a few things touched up on the razor while he had it. He fixed it to good as new.

send him an email, he's a great guy to deal with and will be able to tell you if it's something he can do or not (pics will help)

Depends who and where you ask. I wouldn't send them anything, that's for sure. Blush

so your first experience with them was not so good, that is enough for me not to do business with a company a 2nd time.

as for why I wouldn't:

too many horror stories posts and threads seen elsewhere. I know some have had success with them, but I would not take a chance with them and my razors and money.

I've read about long wait times, wrong razors being returned and the one I saw in person was not up to the standard I have seen from other replaters. The one I saw was a buddy who had one done there (before he and I knew about these things) and it was slow, replate was ok, but there were a few places that they missed and didn't take care with.

the ones I have seen PERSONALLY from RestoredRazors and ATT (abovethetie) blew the RE one out of the water and were cheaper I think.

I would not hesitate to get one done from either of the above 2 I mention. The toggle I saw done in Rhodium looked perfect and there was absolutely no loss of detail in the knurling, date stamp under head, parts that move on the adjuster etc.

I have seen some replates done by others and they look sloppy. The knurling is usually less defined and look they have have just been replated with no attention to any "prep" on them.

then run, don't walk away from even thinking of sending them anything from your collection.

Shipping from CAD to the UK was about $8 and it was about the same to send back.

I believe Stan @ ATT does it on request and best to email him to discuss what it would cost.

here are pics of the Toggle from ATT I have seen in person that was gold previously and is now Rhodium. as you can see, attention to detail is fantastic.
