I am still new to shaving but I'm getting the hang of it except....under the nose! Every time I try to get that last bit of stubble just underneath my nose by going against the grain it feels irritated for hours afterwards. And it doesn't matter if it is the mildest razor/blade combo, I get the same result. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you deal with it?

I do not go ATG on my upper lip or under the nose. Strictly WTG and some XTG. I do two passes with a little touch up if needed.

I do WTG, XTG, and ATG. And some ATG Buffing.

I just make sure that my angle is correct and I do not end up with any problems.

I do have problems with my neck and I am discovering that the problem is mostly with the angle of the razor.

So today my neck is clean and smooth but, yesterday there was a little bit of stubble left when I was done.

I proceed with caution under the nose.

WTG twice or WTG + XTG, with light buffing.

ATG only if circumstances permit i.e. a particularly good batch of 'gooey, slick, and friendly' lather.

I take my other hand/thumb and stretch my nose up out of the way, then go
VERY lightly *almost* ATG.

Ok, so I'm getting the idea that the under the nose/upper lip thing is fairly common. So tomorrow, I live with a little stubble Smile It's actually almost smooth in that area, but as a relative newbie to wet shaving, I have an almost compulsive/obsessive need to get a BBS shave.

Don't be compulsive/obsessive. DFS is good enough.

I do a couple of XTG passes, one from each side.
That gets me close enough.

This is exactly what I do.
