Hi gents,

I'm looking for a Bay Rum scented soap. As far as I've read there are some choices.

Are there any tallow based ones?

What's your favorite and why?

Thanks

While my experience with Bay Rums is severely limited - I have tried exactly one - the scent of the Col Conk glycerin based Bay Rum is quite pleasant and subtle... almost too subtle. YMMV; if you want a stronger Bay Rum that lingers for more than a few minutes, you might want to consider other options (of which I think this thread will be full, thus fueling my own SSAD Tongue)

It makes a pretty good lather though, even on the first and second try.

Thanks. I've never had much luck lathering Conk's

I once tried the Ogallala soap and it was nice, but I've traded it, but I regreat it. I think I should have kept it.

I would have suggested Ogallala as well, Leon. From what I remember, it's a fairly potent Bay Rum scent but it didn't knock me down.

The only Bay Rum scented soap I've tried is Col. Conk. I like the scent a lot. I'm happy with the quality of the lather it produces. I like the glide of the blade on it, and it leaves my skin soft and moisturized.

I have always thought of Bay Rum as an aftershave scent, not something for a shave soap. But sometimes I start to wonder if I could find a Bay Rum soap that I'd like.

One issue with the "true" Bay Rum aftershaves (like Dominica et. al) is that they burn a good bit more than most AS...it's okay for an AS but I'm not sure I'd want that in a shave soap.

Honestly, I'd love for RazoRock or Nanny's to do a Bay Rum soap that uses nothing but pure Pimenta Racemosa oil in a subtle fashion...enough to enjoy the scent but not so much that the lather burns my face...

Oh, and if you want a great combo, try an Almond scented Italian soft soap or Haslinger Coconut followed by Dominica...Thumbup

I have tried many but I have grown to love QCS Cayman. I find it pairs nicely with Captain's Choice AS.

Leon,
The best Bay Rum shave soap for me is Mystic Water!
i do not know how she does it, but Michelle makes the best Bay Rum scent that i have smelled! Not too overpowering and not too light. Wonderful, tallow-based shave soap!

I got the Ogallala Sampler. The plan Bay rum did not appeal to me, but I loved their Limes & Peppercorn and Sage & Cedar.

I really like the scent of Ogallala Orange and Bay Rum soap. Performance, for me, is also good.
