My brother and I found a couple of safety razors cleaning out my parents old house. One of them we've i.d.'ed as a 1958 Gillette T.V. special. Sound right? Looks like a Flare tip but the end is nickel, not blue or red. Date code D3 . Anyways, it needs replating, can anyone here recommend someone ? If not I'll send it to Razor Emporium or Bob's razors. The other one is a 70's Schick and it needs a little work too.

Congratulations on your wonderful find of a Gillette TV special. As far as re-plating if you are referring to Bob's Razor Works (BRW) I am afraid Bob Smith passed away about two years ago and his business is defunct. Maybe you can find a local re-plate shop in your area who would be willing to fix your razor. In any event best of luck.

Bob Keyes does not replate razors, he sells DE's [at a high price] but he restores only Straight razors not DE's.

Looks like a flair tip, but not exactly the same. The handle has a different knurling design.
