I was recently at the AoS store in Fashion Plaza and found that they no longer carry the Ocean Kelp Shaving Cream...! I went to the Website, but they do not have it listed either except in Kit Form...I wonder if it's time to go to Marshall's? That was my favorite scent.

Has anyone heard any official announcement regarding the Ocean Kelp? Sephora still has it listed online as do a few other retailers....

I find that AoS Ocean Kelp smells VERY similar to DRH Arlington. You should check it out if you haven't already.

That would be too bad because I really like the aftershave.

My friend , I think that this cream contained parabens and , for I was told during my last trip to CA on a AoS store , the parabens were going to be remove of its formulation. So maybe this is whats going on with the cream , the old being replaced with new ones or maybe I'm just confusing stories big time...

I called AoS last night and got three different answers from three different associates, which is confusing. One person said the packaging was being re-designed, one said that it was being reformulated (as mentioned), and one said it was a limited-time product and was not intended as a regular offering...It's hard to know who to believe...

In any case, now I have a $55 Gift Certificate (that they do not take on the website) with nothing in-store I want to buy, but that is for another conversation...

Well , I had a very good conversation with a guy called Matthew , from the AoS store in SLC , and told me that no , the Ocean Kelp shaving cream is not going to be discontinued , and its actually , with the sandalwood , their best selling cream.I trust this guy , since he has been working for P&G quiet a while and he knows what he is talking about.
Good news for the ones we like the Ocean Kelp scent.

Seriously, take a sniff of DRH Arlington and tell me if you can distinguish a difference between that and Ocean Kelp. It's pretty much identical.

I don't have Arlington cream, only soap and AS, but the tub of Ocean Kelp I have smells nothing like it. The OK aftershave has some common notes but certainly is far from identical to Arlington.

I never thought DRH Arlington and Ocean Kelp smelled similar. Arlington is very bright citrus to me and OC smells like sweet marine air. If anything RazoRock Fresco is the closest to OC to my nose.

If I used creams (or if AoS decided to release it in soap form) Ocean Kelp would be my no. 1 choice!

I have to agree with guildx500. I have both Arlington soap and a tub of Ocean Kelp and they are not at all similar to me. In fact, I love the Arlington and I think the Kelp is so so. It lathers well but I find the scent to be almost artificial (it was an impulse buy at an AOS mall after an attractive sales woman demonstrated the "luxurious lather.") :-)

Friends,

Please send all unwanted tubs of AoS OC to Me! Biggrin

Seriously though, I'm going to buy an Arlington Tub...I used the soap and it burned my neck bad, but I think the cream has less of the offending agents - I hope so anyway!

RR Fresco, ay? I'll be trying that one, too... I just ordered three tubs of AoS OC from Amazon for $23 each shipped with Prime, and got some Crystal IP's as an add-on....

I headed over to Vauhans (think Ross but for much higher quality merch), but alas, there was no AoS at all...I did score a Pre de Provence AS Balm for $3, though!

It seems like this has been a very popular cream, one I really like. I'm going to buy a tub or two, just in case.

Here is the official email response from The Art of Shaving corporate office I got in this morning's email:

"Dear Matthew,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The Art of Shaving has been analysing our Shave Cream Lines and Market Strategies and have learnt that many people have their favourites. Fortunately Ocean Kelp has a loyal following; notwithstanding; we have had to suspend this product from our normal offering and will re-evaluate this favourite at a later soft launch date. Your concern has been noted and passed along to our product management team.
"

They also included a 50% coupon code off any single product from their website.

Sounds to me like it didn't do as well as they had planned in the year since their soft American Launch and they either pulled it to make it a seasonal offering or for reformulation...in any case, my nearest store doesn't have any in stock, and can't say when they will have more. Luckily I bought a few tubs on Amazon so have enough for at least a year now, more if used sparingly.

This makes me very sad....Sad

Matt

I'm curious if AOS intends to release another scent as a replacement. I would very much like to see something with menthol or peppermint.
