In fear of anything happening to my Cobra I bought a spare. After having both Cobra's in the house and admiring them. I started to wonder how would one of them look like if I had it plated gold. I decided to have my origional Cobra replated. It took 6 long weeks. Finally, today, it came back from the replaters. They did an excellent job. Now my question which one will be my primary razor and which one will be my back-up? I present for your inspection The Golden Cobra.

Wow, that's beautiful. Since the gold is probably more likely to show use, I think I would keep it for the backup.

The Golden Cobra - sounds like the name of a Kung-Fu movie.

I love my Cobra and am tempted to do the same thing. Can you give a ballpark figure for the cost of the re-plate? Who did the job for you?

Razor Emporium $79 and it took 6 agonizing weeks.Luckily, I had my back-up Don't know how I would have done without my Cobra for that long.

Nice looking in the gold as well. Once you have shaved with one you can't really go very long without it. That is until maybe the Huntlee razor comes along......Wink

i knew it wouldn't be too long before someone did something like this to their Cobra! Fantastic! It looks wonderful and you have a very distinctive razor, there!
i would keep it for the back-up so it doesn't wear out the gold. Enjoy!Biggrin

There has been talk about this for a little while now and I know of more than a couple of people that have had it done. I plan to do it also, once I sought my Cobra issues out...

Glad we could help- sorry it took a while. We've never done a Cobra before so there was a learning curve! If we had to do it again I bet we could get 'er out in 3-4 weeks.

Thanks for posting!

Very nice, Barry. When my backup Cobra comes back from being on tour I might finally have to send it in to be replated. I had previously thought about having my spare done in black rhodium after seeing a Gillette done in the same.

My first impulse was black. It should be smashing. My wife said this is going to wind up like cell phone covers that are sold in the mall kiosks. All sorts of bling and gems.
