Here's my latest straight razor purchase. Engels 8/8 Perfection. I've been seeking for Perfection and may have found it. It's looking good. I have an 8/8 Henckels Fridour, Palmera, Schulz and some 15/16 ones, all great shavers and feel good in the hand. Heft and delicacy.

Woah! Great score!
I haven't seen any Perfection blades (or Engels in general for that matter) at that size.
Are the cracked ice scales original? Love the look of 'em.

According to the seller, the scales are original. He never used the razor and had it covered in RenWax. He'd traded a Filarmonica 14 Certo for it at a Toronto razor meetup and now sold it to me. F.W. Engels is just one of the hundreds of wonderful Solingen, Germany razor companies from the past. I haven't seen another either, but have heard about them.

Thanks, Celestino. It is beautiful. I should have it in my hands by Friday.

I forgot to mention, I have 2 large Dovo Fritz Bracht razors, a 55 (15/16) and a Favorit (8/8). They are beautiful and great shavers as well.

I have only one "modern" razor now, a Dovo Master, the AOS version. I prefer the feel of the vintage.

Here's the basic info on F. W. Engels from strazors.com

The owner was Emil Engels. Later (1939), the owners were Emil, Villi and widow Matilda Engels.

Thanks, Jamie. And I wish I had your photography skills. Mine are awful. That's why I use seller photos or have friends take most my photos. Looking at straight shave photos is what started me into shaving with straights.

Still waiting. It was sent Priority mail from Canada, but no more scans since dropped off at the Waterloo post office. Frustrating.

I did receive a restored Hiyashi Diamond straight on Friday.

The Eagle, er, Engels has landed! Wow, it looks even better in person and wow, this 8/8 is heavy and looks larger than my other 8/8, somehow. I can't wait to shave with it in the morning.

Yes, I've had to satisfy the Mistress many a time, now.

Thanks, Ben. I notice you continue to buy good stuff, yourself. When will you come to the straight razor side of things?
