Okay all you Feather Blade experts, what's the big difference between these two Feather Blades? Is one really better than the other?

Yeah the "black" packaging is for five blades and the "yellow" packaging is for ten.

Not really... there are also yellow packs of 5. Here's mine, bought in 2010:

Same blade, but different colours for different markets.

Yellow for Europe and USA, red carton w/ black packets for the Asian market... and blue packets for South America (blue package in Portuguese, for the Brazilian market):

Of course things have to be more complex than I thought them to be! That's interesting and I like the blue plastic package. As an aside, I've always liked how Feathers have the blade disposal on the back of the packaging.

Good luck, Johnny!

I have a 5-pack of the yellow's and I tried one this morning. After shaving the left side of my face I removed the blade and went back to my Personna Med Prep Blade. I did not care for the Feather at all.

That's why I was asking. I thought if the black package was different I might give them a try. But if the above is the case, there is no need for me to do that.

By no means, friend! You got it right! The thing to retain is: same blade, different package, that's all. Cheers

I just don't find the increased sharpness of the Feathers to be worth much. I get 3 shaves from one and then it goes into the can.

I much prefer a sharp blade that's also smooth... a Med Prep, 7 O'Clock Yellow, Iridium, or some such.

Edit: I just need to add that's for Feather DE only. The Feather SE blades are fine.

And yes, they are nothing special. Sharp but rough.

Thank you all for clearing that up. I nearly bought some black ones the other night because I foolishly thought they may be different.

Rough? No other DE can get you a nicer shave.

Mush smoother blades out there that are just as sharp.

Polsilver, SI, GSB are all superior.

I'm quite sure the black and yellow packs contain the same blades...I never was 100% sure though. Now that I see yellow five count packs here and the blue packs too, Im even more sure they are all the same except for packaging and blade count. these blades are damb sharp and IMO only work well in more mild razors...otherwise they just feel sharp and abusive to my faceFacepalm

I also find they only work for me (2-3 shaves total) and work best on shave 2 and must be in a mild razor like the AS-D1, Flare Tip etc.
