I saw what must have been one of his last shows in September of 2000. He was a master.

One of the greats for sure! I actually came across his tomb recently. He happened to be entombed at the same place in Oakland where I was attending a memorial service. He is entombed right next to Al Davis, another Bay Area legend.

I have to say that I listen to alot of different types of music (I even listened to some Rap and decided that it was not for me.) and for a Blues Artist John Lee Hooker was one of the best.
