Just got a call from my 78 year old Dad. He thanked me for the 1963 Slim Adjustable, soap, brush and blades that I sent to him. He is having his first wet/DE shave in 40+ years tonight.

Wish I could be there but, he's in Texas and I am in Michigan.

What a switch ...... he bought me my first razor when I was 16. It was an Atra and a can of the (then) new Edge gel.

Very ironic. I've been using my father's 1963 Gillette adjustable razor lately. Still works as well as it did for dad.

Excellent! You should get your dad to video the experience for you! That would be sweet!Biggrin

That's great, Frank. I agree with Celestino that a video would be good.

Wish I had thought of that earlier. Maybe I will mention it when I call him on Sunday. Dad is sort of a private kind of person who doesn't like to be video taped.

As an addendum, I sent both Polsilver SI's and Treets. I suggested that he start with the Polsilver blades.

Well done young man, well done. Just a photo of your Dad and the goodies will do.

What part of Texas is he in?

Thank you Johnny. Dad lives all the way down in Harlingen. He's a bit camera and video shy but I'll see what I can do for a picture.

I bought the soap from an artisan from Texas who owns a shop on Etsy shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/SageSweetgrassSoaps

I have not used her shave soaps yet. I'm waiting for feedback from my Dad on his experience.

I just spoke with Dad and it seems that he had a good first DE shave after many years away. I also sent two shaving related articles for him to refresh his memory with. I think that he's hooked on it again and commented on how he needs to tweak the settings on the adjustable.

He remembered the no pressure rule and the importance of not holding the razor like a hammer. So, it seems that he is well on the way back down memory lane.
