Greetings All!

I have been hanging around here lurking and gathering bits of the collective wisdom for a number of months now so I thought it was about time I did the polite thing and introduced myself.

I'm Travis Smith and I hale from the windswept prairies of far southwest Minnesota. I have been shaving with a double edge safety razor since February of this year. My journey down the road of traditional wet shaving started 2 years ago when my lovely wife gave me an Art of Shaving travel kit for my thirtieth birthday. Next came a full size kit for Christmas. I enjoyed lathering the cream with a brush but was still using a Fusion razor.

Around Christmas time I learned that a friend of mine had taken the plunge and started shaving with an Edwin Jagger DE89. This inspired me to consider it further. I asked for some goodies for Christmas. My parents got me a bowl of AoS lavender shave soap and the matching balm. In January I started using the soap with my AoS Fine badger brush, but was still using the Fusion. I started researching shaving with a DE razor, which led me to this site.

I put in an order with Lee and got myself an Edwin Jagger DE89 Barley with a sampler pack of blades. I took the plunge (with visions of torn flesh and blood everywhere) and started using it in late February.

I was amazed at the comfort, closeness and staying power of my shave using the DE. There was no turning back. Of course one of the intentions of DE shaving was to save money. Well, you all know how that goes. I have since acquired a few soaps, creams, brushes and a Mühle Rosegold R89, no thanks in large part to the influence of those here Smile. Oh yeah, I am also hoarding AoS tallow-based soap.

I have greatly appreciated the wealth of knowledge available on this forum and look forward to being a regular participant. I am sure I'll have quite a few questions along the way but I hope I can also contribute something to this great community.

I look forward to getting to know you all!

All the best,
Travis Smith

Welcome to the Nook, Travis!

Are you seeing many pheasants down your way this summer? I'm itching to get out hunting this fall with my boys.

Welcome to TSN.

Yep, I have saved a lot of money not buying multi-bladed cartridges.

Now I spend any excess on Razors, Brushes, Soaps/Creams, Blades ...Confused

May all of your shaves be BBS.Biggrin
