It seems lately that my posting count changes frequently. My postings numbers seem to go down any reason for that?
Today I posted and I was missing 70+ posts from my count.

Maybe Andrew can jump in and shed some light on the subject.

I do know that post in the Parlor, Complaint Section, and B/S/T do not show up in the count.

something is certainly off..

I just ran the recount & rebuild tools and it dropped howler's post count by over 2k.

I'll look into it...

I think Freddy took the biggest hit.

Agravic sent me a theory which could turn out to be true.

I'm pretty sure nothing in the lounge/parlor counts towards a user's post count, but if the recount & rebuild tool wasn't ran after those changes were made, that's why it may of been reflecting a higher post count.

How did that happen? I was at 13,699 and now I'm at 4,448. I thought the new parameters (no B/S/T, Parlor Games, etc. towards post count) was not supposed to take effect retroactively. Computers... Bah, Humbug!

parlor posts.

you've made 9,350 posts in the parlor and parlor game sections, both of which do not count towards your post count.

I believe what happened is when those options were changed, the recount & rebuild tool was never ran, thus never correctly adjusting the post count for a lot of users.

howler has 2,096 posts in the parlor & parlor games section; wingdo has 918 in the parlor & parlor games section; phil has 1740 in those 2 sections; and micktoley has 1320 in those sections.

I have a request. Please roll back my post count to zero and leave it there. Frankly, it has just become an annoyance and I don't want to feel as if I'm in a constant "contest." If my count is needed for something in particular then just have it available to the administrators but not have it display on the public forum. Thank you.

Maybe not the right place to say, but what's the obsession with post count? I wasn't aware of contest, I do agree that post count should be counted in relevant forums only.

If someone else would like to do the same, I'm fine with that but my request still stands.

I don't know how this could possibly be implemented.
