I have scored a New Deluxe set while on vacation a few days ago. It came as a Lady Deluxe set in jade (green) box. Very sweet set and it appears to be identical in every way except the box to a Tuckaway. The head is very similar to the New LC but with a thicker bottom plate where the extra thickness absorbs that center groove. Otherwise it's pretty much identical to the New LC as far as head geometry. The New LC's teeth are slightly longer, but since they are pointing straight down it really makes no difference as far as skin contact. the handle on the Deluxe is a short Tuckaway type handle. I have already shaved with the head on top of the Ikon bulldog handle and really liked it. Basically a heavier New LC with a flat thicker bottom plate. shaves about the same, on the mild side, but not too mild. I usually shim my New LC to bring it up to the way I like. I may do the same with the Deluxe.

Just wondering if this is a rare head variation. I have not seen too many of these.

Also seems Ikon OC was almost (or exactly) a replica of this head. Is this true? I can see why Ikon would do it. It is an outstanding OC head. With the Ikon bulldog handle the Deluxe head balances almost perfectly at where I grip the razor. Almost like someone meant it to be that way. Maybe they have...

Anyway, so far the only picture I have of it is the SOTD I took yesterday. I'll photograph the entire set and post later.

Nice find! Yes, I do believe the Gillette Deluxe was the inspiration behind the iKon OC Bulldog.

These heads are just a variation of the NEW design. They are not rare, but somewhat scarce since only a small quantity were produced in early in 1930 and similar to the NEW razors, but with a slightly heavier head at 3-5 grams. The Deluxe version of the NEW was made at two different times 1930 with serial numbers but without patent numbers, and 1935 with patent numbers but without serial numbers.

Hey there. Thank you for sharing. To answer your question, I have the iKon OC, and the heads look similar.

Thanks, gentlemen for the info. I believe mine is a 1931 version. No patents, but there is a serial number. It's a real nice shaver, especially with a shim.
