So I caved and ordered a glass jar of regular scented MdC. I am a big fan of soaps (Tabac, PannaCrema, Haslinger...).
What should I expect from MdC? Will it be equal or better in performance?
Thanks.

As long as you can tolerate the scent, it will easily perform as well as your other soaps, but YMMV. Good luck.

IMHO it performs better than the three you listed. And unlike my good friend in Canada, I like the scent.

I think it's so good that it's almost impossible to mess up the lather. It also doesn't take as much loading as other soaps. I usually load soaps for about 45 secs, I can get away with about 25 secs with MdC. I don't do this to be cheap, you don't need as much MdC to make lots of lather.

I like the scent, but it is a bit strong at first. Just leave the soap open for a few weeks and the scent will diminish.

don't think too much about it, try it without expectations and see if you like it.
It's a good soap, I wouldn't get your hopes up as far as best soap on the planet. It may be better than the ones you listed but there are also better soaps available.

MdC is amazing, copious lather with minimal load time, super slick, great moisturizing.

Scent is subdued, but I personally love it!

Time to go sniff some shave soap.....Smile

MdC lathers beautifully for me, as well as any other soap I've used. It seems to do better when the water is warm rather than hot, similar to MWF. Its scent was a little strong for me at first (although not the roof tar smell about which bullgoose has complained), but it toned down after I left the jar open for one night and became quite pleasant.

It really is the holy grail of hard soaps.

Loads extremely quickly, lathers extremely well, lasts forever, smell's subjective. I find it slick and creamy.

Better than Tabac and smells so much better.

I've bought MdC twice and sold it the same. Undeniably it is one of the easiest soaps to lather, scent is subjective(to me it's OK), but I have never understood the hype that goes with it. There are soaps that lather just as easy, those that give better protection, and definitely those that give better post shave feel. As an all-round package, I easily put JabonMan and Harris ahead, and by some distance. YMMV I suppose.

I just got my MdC as well. I must admit that the smell is YMMV, but my gosh, the performance of that soap is undeniable! Thumbsup

I'd say it's probably the best performance soap out there, or at least that I've tried... And I quickly got used to the smell, particularly the Fougère.

Honestly, I think Tabac is more YMMV. MdC smells like a very strong, rustic lavender. Don't know what fougere smells like.

agreed. Tabac smelled like a sweaty gym bag covered with cologne to mask the scent.

the MdC Fouguere is lightly citrus and fresh smelling.

I like MdC original, find it a strong, raw lavender.

I have to say you have had the same experience as I !

I've had Two samples. One was unscented, which was not unscented and a disliked the smell. The other is Fougere which I like the smell of much better.

Both make foamy lather very quickly! But so does my Portus Cale , And I prefer it's smell.

It simply didn't Wow me Sad

I'm one of those who loves the smell of MDC! But it has everything you would want in a soap! Number_one
