After browsing around, I have decided that I might like to get a shaving/ lather bowl. I already have a scuttle, and don't always have time to use it...especially when it's hot out.

I saw that the Captain has some new pottery bowls (one in chocolate) but am unsure if they ship to Canada. Any other bowl recommendations out there?

I would recommend a custom lather bowl made for your needs. It can be larger than the standard, have a recess for your brush, ridges at the bottom to help generate lather, color you prefer. It can fit your needs rather than you just adjusting to what's out there. As you are making the perfect bowl its a one off expense wise so it shouldn't hurt to pay a bit more for a one time purchase.

I believe Dirty Bird Pottery can make one. I know Schwarzweisskeramik of Germany can as they made mine. Ladysea pottery I believe is known on TSN.

Just went to the Bestshave site. The copper bowl does look interesting. Might try it next time I put in an order.

Thanks for the replies thus far gentlemen. Julie does some fabulous work, there is no question. A custom made bowl just might be the ticket.

The copper bowl on the other hand looks like a piece of pirates treasure. Not that that's a bad thing. It boasts a classy shine.

Brad, aren't you a face-latherer?! Wow, using your 39C I would have imagined you were. This would easily eliminate any need for a bowl. Biggrin

Depends on how much time I have. More a face latherer in the summer. I love my DB scuttle in the cold winters.

......i have one of these copper bowls too from BestShave.net, and it is a great bowl to use... plus it isn't ceramic or glass which is a big plus for using in the bathroom... Bestshaving.net does have some very reasonably priced items that you can't find in other shave sites.........

+1. I have one of the copper bowls also. They work well but the workmanship on the handle is iffy. I cannot fix mine (it wobbles) as they used a short rivet that I cannot tighten. I'm too lazy to drill it out, etc. Workmanship from DB is top notch.

The Bill Bowl from Dirty Bird has my vote.

Julie might even have an LE TSN version left
