After two shaves only, it seems that the standard sized Mergress is more suitable for those who prefer the weight centre at the head of the razor. And also that the XL is a great solution for people who like the weight more evenly distributed, and a more centrally balanced razor.

I found both razors easy to handle though, and at the moment I only have a slight preference for the longer handle of the XL for its more comfortable grip with my size hands.

Today, as per Ben's advice I will shave with the razor at setting 3. On a sidenote, I am curious to see how the Merkur blades perform. They do not get stellar reviews here, but the first shaves were pretty good I must say.

It would appear Lee is out of stock again, but he did warn they wouldn't be around for long!

Next time I'll pick up a back-up XL for sure.

Darn it! This is what happens when you go on your 2nd honeymoon and you miss the chance to buy the Mergress. They're sold out on the website.
