I am somewhat surprised by the amount of hubub about aligning blades in the Islant. Especially in the other forum. Does anyone know if Ikon actually intended to expose the blade in a slanted manner? What is it about this that makes many users feel there is something to correct?

If the Merkur slants actually do provide a parallel blade alignment, does that mean that it is the only legitimate way to provide the benefits of the slant razor?

I've been using the Islant w/o taking pains to align the blade and I think it shaves great! What say you?

Absolutely...pop in the blade and shave...needs nothing...one of the best shavers out there...perfection...some people get uptight about having to position and adjust....just shave with it and you will see....in fact do one side with the Merkur and the other with the IKON....you either like it or you don,t...I love mine!!

I pop the blade in, and unless it's obviously misaligned, I tighten the handle and I'm off ... Biggrin

Heh, I never really got all the hand-wringing about the "proper alignment" of slants, be they the 37c, iKon, etc.

I had no issue whatsoever the one time I used it. I did experiment quite a few times to see if the blade aligned properly and had no issues each time before and after the shave.

Don't have an Ikon slant yet but I just drop it in the 39C, tighten and shave. Different forums have very different cultures. Bob put it rather succinctly.

Agreed that there nothing to 'worry' about. Drop the blade in and enjoy a nice smooth shave.
