I recently tried a Muhle '13 R41 razor and it's a keeper, but it has the same (IMO) terrible handle that they all have. But that's why replacement razor handles are made. I shot off an email to UFO handles and was told about the new "Colibri". A short wait and I had the new handle in my hot little hands.

It may not be exactly your cup of tea, but it sure is mine. Not too large in diameter or length, SS, and just drop dead gorgeous. It also has a new knurling pattern. Similar to my other UFO handle that has a Muhle '11 R41 on it, yet different.

Here it is on the Muhle '13 R41, and by itself.

Gorgeous indeed!

Do you happen to know what calibre it is? I always have a hard time judging scale from images.

Edit: Nevermind about that, I just learned to read. Sherlock

Ronnie, I didn't even keep track. First they were on vacation, then the mailing. It's been awhile. Certainly over a month, maybe 2.

That is beautiful!
Love the deep barber-pole type knurling. And the size seems more practical than most UFOs out there (including the Godzilla in my den).

Great score Brian - enjoy!

Very nice, Brian!

The proportions are just right on this handle ... making it quite versatile.

Brian, that is a great looking handle. I'll be interested in hearing how it performs with the R41 head.

Another beautiful handle Brian. With Phil's new SE coming out I may finally be able to experience a UFO handle. This is one that will certainly be in the running when I start making my decision.

I have one other handle (a UFO prototype) very similar to the one pictured... a bit "finer" (but not as in meaning "better") knurling but quite similar. That handle resides on the '11 R41. In fact I inquired as to whether a mate to my prototype could be made and was steered to this new Colibri. Serendipity struck again; my inquiry couldn't have been timed better. Why do I write all of that?

When the new handle arrived I sat down with both handles to decide which I liked better. I couldn't decide. I really like both of my UFO handles. They're simply superb, the finest kind, and I think, classy also. I used the new handle this morning. In fact I was waiting to use the Muhle '13 R41 again until it arrived. I really detest the stock Muhle handle and I haven't been exactly quiet about it, though not shouting about it either; I'm never comfortable with it since it always seems as though it's about to slip and that causes me to tighten my grip. Not what one wants with the R41.

IMO it's as close to perfect shave handle dimensions, at least for me, and it feels fantastic. Grippy, but not harsh. No sensation of losing the razor or of being out of control, even with the light grip I prefer to use with an aggressive razor. It's exactly what the R41 requires IMO. It's at home on the '13 R41 and will remain there and IMO it's what the R41 should have as a stock handle. But of course Muhle can't do that, it would be cost prohibitive.

That's a good point...at 54 grams it is considerably lighter than nearly all UFO handles. On the other hand, I would personally be a bit conservative on traveling with the handle since it would be more prone to getting lost, stolen, or damaged.
