You alredy know my love for Calani soaps : Calani Classic Havana shaving soap so its not a surprise that I write about another wonderful soap made by this german artisan brand, the Cadre Noir.

This soap,as well as the other Calani shaving soap pucks, comes in a carboard box with a 70 grams shaving soap. The soap its not tripple milled, but its also not as one of the soft soaps that you can find out there like some of the Nannys Sillys.
I would say that a puck could last around 3 months of daily use.
Its ingredients are :

So its basically has the same ingredients than the Classic Havana soap, providing the same great lather slickness and skin protection that I do love (my dry skin does) from these soaps.
As I said in the Classic Havana review,Calani plays on a mayor league of shaving soaps, both in skin care protection as well as in the scent department.
The lather that I can get from this soap is thick as well as slick, perfect combination on my book. Also its really stable and doesnt get dry too quick :

And what is this Cadre Noir scent all about? When I was a kid, back in the 80's, I remember the launching of the "Drakkar Noir" scent by Guy Laroche and how successful it was at the time (and still are). This soap its a more "refined" and fresh version of this Drakkar Noir scent,or at least,to me,smells like it but improved. As I said, contains some fresh notes (citrus) as well as some spicy and woody (patchouli) ones.Another manly scent but not "macho man" way,but gentleman style. This scent plays in the same league than the Taylor of Old Bond Street Jermeny Street soap and the Geo F. Trumper Ecuris soap/cream.If you like those scents, you would like the Cadre Noir too.
Once again,well done for Calani.

I do love the Eucris scent the cologne is great but the soap will to lather very well so I would to find a soap to go along with this great scent I wear on occasion.
I dont have any problems making lather with any of the Calani soaps.I just load the brush with enough soap and there you go,the lather would come out easily with no struggle.

Cathy is a lovely lady as well - I don't know if she speaks English, however because I correspond with her in German. We're also both members of the gut-rasiert.de group.

Great person to deal with and also excellent soap maker.
Ah, thanks Teiste, but I speak German also very well and much better than English, so that's the language I use with her. She's a wonderful person indeed.
