I went back to my Antiques lady today at lunch and found a nice handcrafted oak razor and brush stand that needs to be restored. She was only asking $15, so I threw a $20 at her and wandered off laughing as she tried to give me the change...(she is the old gal who gave me all the soaps and creams)

It is very pale now and seems to have some water damage spots on it. Can anyone tell me how to restore it? I was thinking I would lightly sand it and get it smooth and then apply a good oil, but which one? It does not seem to have any varnish on it at all...

I can post a picture this evening when I get home.

Ideas?

Sorry for not getting photos, but I put it out at a Flea Market and someone offered me $50 for it, so it is gone, gone, gone...

I did a quick restore to it by lightly sanding the water spots then applying a Tung Oil from Home Depot...it actually revitalized it alot, though the base still had some water damage.

The gent asked what it held and then offered me $50, which I snapped up. I hope it doesn't end up on Antiques Roadshow with a value of $10 million...lol

Congratulations on the sale, looking forward to seeing what other shaving goodies you acquire with the funds... Tongue
