Just wondering if someone could tell me about the performance and scent. I love stronger scents that you can really smell while lathering. I also really like pipe tobacco if it's done right. QCS Basilica, I have only tried a small sample and while I don't know if it was new or had been sitting awhile, it seemed to be too light smelling.

I received a tin of the Vanetiver ysterday and used it for the first time this morning. The lather wasn't as full as I'm used to, more of a dense coating (even compared to Mike's or B&M). It was also kind of dissipating by the final pass, but I'll work on the water composition. Post-shave skin care was excellent though, my face felt very smooth.

The scent was more Vanilla than Vetiver. The funny thought that hit me while I was using it was "This smells kind of like a dirty cupcake." Tongue

This makes it great for people that are living the lifestyle! Smile

I played around with it on my dinner break with my Kent BK8. I'm still trying to figure out the brush, but the lather seemed really nice and slick. I'll be shaving with it tonight and I'll be using one of my brushes I'll more accustomed to.
The Cavendish scent definitely has that tobacco smell, but not post-smoke.

If you like pipe tobacco scent, as I do, you really should try Straight Razor Designs soap, Opus X. I bought a tub a year ago, and once I started it, I didn't want to stop until it was all used up. Took me 53 days straight, and even though it is a glycerin soap, the lather is excellent. I loaded my brush heavily every day, and have no complaints.

I have a review of Cavendish on my latest podcast. Or you can just cut to the chase and go to my blog.

Douglas has a great soap. Cavendish is very intriguing.

Links to blog and podcast in my signature.

I guess I'm somewhat challenged. I copied and pasted this: BrushnSoapnBlade.Wordpress.com and nothing happened. Not much of a link!Biggrin

My Cavendish should be here tomorrow. Right now I have the Vantiver and really enjoy the scent, definitely not your average scent which is why I like it. The lather, once you get the water ratio right, is excellent and feel it competes with pretty much any tallow based soap out there. Not to mention you get 8 oz. of soap and you need very little to get a large amount of lather. I figure this tin will last for quite some time even with daily use.

Got a tin of the Cavendish late last week. I'm obsessed with this stuff. Very good performer and the scent is amazing. I keep sneaking into the bathroom to take whiffs of the tin. Haha.

Only thing I would ask for is for the scent to be a little stronger, but that's just picking nits.

I agree about the scent being stronger. I also have the vanitver and it has a much stronger smell. Both are excellent performing soaps.

I have just received the pumpkin, cavendish and vanilla/vetiver

I shall use one tomorrow and report back on performance. but i will give you a run down of what the scents are like.

Cavendish -smells really nice and imo the best on offer. gorgeous dry tobacco scent. not potent, sits very nicely in the nose and almost a touch breezy. just imagine your grandfather filling his pipe sitting outside on the porch.

Pumpkin - smells of christmas pudding to me. very seasonal. i dont detect any pumpkin on its own though

Vetiver/vanilla - smells exactly like vetiver mixed with vanilla. its nice but i can see myself getting bored of it quickly.

I have tried Synergy Bay Rum, Cavendish, Pumpkin Spice, and Lime (stick). The only one that didn't agree with me was the Bay Rum (not spicey enough for my nose). I absolutely love the rest.

After having tried Mama Bear's Cherry Tobacco, and being severely burned by it, I very much enjoy the warming of Synergy Cavendish. In my limited experience, the scent is spot on.

On another note, the Lime reminds me of Key Lime Pie. All of these soaps lather incredibly, and give a really cushioned shave with tons of glide.

Heat up your lather bowl. The scent "pops" with a little heat!
