I've tried a bunch of Bay Rum aftershaves Captain's Choice, Booster, Col. Conk, Trumpers, Lucky Tiger, etc. and all of the Bay Rum scent masked with way too much clove. The only Bay Rum aftershave I've liked that didn't have cloves to it was Honeybee Garden Bay Rum.

But this aftershave stings like hell, it's almost as bad as wiping an alcohol pad on freshly shaved skin. I have not tried Dominica or Ogallala Bay Rum in fear that they too will smell more like cloves than Bay Rum.

Well, when it becomes available for commercial sales, Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum hands down.

Best I've ever used.

An old barbers trick, one known pretty extensively on the forums, directly addresses the sting of bay rum. It was instructions directly given by Pinaud to barbers on using its Bay Rum. You take a dash of witch hazel and bay rum and mix them together in the palm of your hand, you then apply to the shaven face. The WH robs the BR of its sting.

I have the hbg, it doesn't smell like bay rum at all. Dominica and meehans do not have Clove in them. However if you don't understand what bay run is really like you may misinterpret what is actually in the bottle. It may be that bay rum just isn't for you. I can't really comment on the ones you mentioned btw.

I have to admit I'm a Bay Rum addict. It is one of my favs, and luckily one of my wife's favs, too. Dominica is a good one for me, because it doesn't overwhelm everyone. It does have some bite, though. Just enough to let you know you just shaved, lol.
