I'm not highly blade-sensitive, finding the way the razor holds the blade's far more important than the blade itself, provided that it isn't overly gentle, like a Crystal.
Consequently, I looked for shelf-life, price & ready availability (not fond of online ordering): Derby, BIC, Gillette Plat. ("Swede Replacement"), Shark Super Chromes, Astra Keramiks.

I have found country of make an important indicator of performance. Czech blades are always excellent. However all of my experiences have been with discontinued or unavailable brands online friends have PIF. Are current DERBIES still made there?
Indian/ Israeli,Pakistani blades leave me unsatisfied. Japanese feathers are hari Kiri. Merkurs should be KRUPP, not CR**!
Finally, from the homeland of my sensory overloading church and the frozen steppes come blades worthy of a cossack bn
1. Super Iridiums
2. Swedish Rapiras
3. Astras
4. Czech made Tigers- If I can find any
5. PIF blades from friends- A good shave can be had with ALMOST any decent blade. Given the uncertain supply of my favourites
I periodically use my oddball collection to stay on top of my game.

Y'know, I never heard any gripe about any Czech blade. But they don't turn up in the NorthAm market and that's a shame. I have Tigers' mfr's website bookmarked but it's a tease. If I want to buy from them I'd end up becoming THE western hemisphere representative for them! What blades I see talked about on the boards seem to be bought overseas by travelers and brought back home for personal use. <Sigh!>

Unfortunately, I don't have 5 that I really like. I've always had a heavy beard (I was asked to wet shave for the first time (by my teaching Nuns) in 8th grade), so I have no illusions of more than 2-3 shaves per blade.
To me, the sharper, the better. It all becomes a bit of a trade-off. The sharper the blade, the less the cleanup. There are smooth blades that are pretty sharp, kinda. I still need more passes... .
Feather
Iridium
Polsilver (yeah Freddy bn )
Gillette Dark Blue
I can get BBS with all, just a bit more work with the latter 3. To be clear, they also last longer than my Feather.

I have a lot of good blades but some that stand out are:
Gillette 7 O' Clock Super Platinum (Dark Blue)
Personna Medical Prep
Gillette 365
Israeli Personna Red Pack
Astra Superior Platinum
There are probably others that I just can't think of right now. However, Michael and Bob, rest assured that neither Zorrik nor Polsilver so called razor blades make the cut (literally). One does have one's standards. ; }

You've got Keramiks? Hide; there's a search-and-capture team on its way to your place!
