Hi All,

I know that this is quite a bold statement and that's why it is more a question, I hope for you to determine.

We have been able to acquire some of the first lot of this new French Artisan, Le Pere Lucien, who is using quite some of the same ingredients as MdC does.

His soap comes in two very nice bowls, one of 100 and one even classier inox bowl of 200 grams.

Savon du Barbier 100 gram

Savon du Barbier 200 gram

As I said, it was from the first lot and we will only get a limited number of these great new soaps!

Thanks,

Eric

Eric, I'm having problems with the site. When I scroll down I lose everything. What is the scent? Similar to MdC?

Well, the ingredients include lavender, eucalyptus, rosemary and thyme oils..so I am guessing they were going for a similar scent to MdC. Interestingly it also has Melaleuca Quinquenervia AND Melaleuca Alternifolia..so a double dose of Tea Tree goodness.

The title of this thread got me curious for sure. Then I hear about tea tree being in the ingredients so it's a no go for me. My skin does not like tea tree oil at all.

I do look forward to hearing what others think.

I've been following the development of this soap over on B&B (originally from a french forum). The thread is here. TSN's Boonie21 (Jboone78 over at B&B) ordered it and loved it.

Well, for one, it's almost half the price! Wink

Hi Brian,

Trying to solve things while trying to stay ahead of orders.

I did something stupid yesterday evening to try and speed up the site, but now it's acting slow AND strange...... But we have had too many orders to restore the backup....

Hope I will find what is wrong this weekend.

About the scent:

Now you see thay my statement is even bolder: I read what was said on the other board, heard from the artisan, took up contact and ordered, but we have yet to receive the first badge that will be limited.

Sorry,

Eric

It sounds as though it would be worth a try according to the review.

<sigh> But I've been buying so little for the past year or so. I'm trying use up some of what I have.

I actually went to the site and began filling out the order. Got to the shipping and it exceeded the cost of the product. Didn't have time to do the currency conversion but it caused me to log off. Not complaining, it is half way around the world but it made me think it may be worth it to buy ten or so and resell at cost to fellow members just to keep the shipping per container reasonable.

Am I way off here? I have some MdC and if this is even close (which I am sure it is) this is a winner.Thumbup

Hi Captain,

The currency conversion wouldn't have made this any better!

If you want to go ahead with your idea, please give me a heads-up as we have done a 1 per customer maximum because we will receive very few of the 200 grams bowls next week

With orders over € 150 or more shipping is free. I know it's a lot....

Thanks,

Eric

Add a jar and plug in your shipping address and report back Confused

$63 shipped for a jar of self proclaimed MdC knockoff....no thanks. MdC is the same price (or cheaper on sale) proven and original.

Classy bowl or not, I actually prefer the look and likely the heft of the Glass Jar with screwtop lid from MdC.

As a vendor, we're stuck between the price we have to maintain and the actual shipping costs we have to pay.

As far as the MdC-comparison. I know I bring it up, but that was said about it on the other board.

I hope, with most of you, that this soap will live up to this claim.

Have a very nice weekend!

Eric

Understood Eric and shipping is a killer of many products overseas and even between US and CAD.

Good luck with its launch and I hope to read great reviews and thoughts on it. The more competition soap makers get, with minimal ingredients, is a win win for all of us.

Only one thing can happen....soaps will continue to get better, choice of scents and hopefully drive prices down across the board.

Many don't care for the scent of MdC, so this may be a option without sacrificing performance and ease of lathering.

Has this been aged & matured as all good soap's should be........... longer the better.

Not keen on the choice of packaging, stick to glass or what about a nice hand thrown pot !!!

IMHO, the stainless container is actually quite nice. Won't rust...or break if accidentally dropped.

Hi Charles,

As far as I know, the soap has to cure for about three weeks. The jars containing 200 grams are nice (just my thought) and give it some kind of vintage touch. Right now, they are the reason that the soap can cure even longer, because they were not available anymore and we will have to wait for new stock until the end of November.

We have very little of the 100 grams left.

Will post here when the 200 grams are back in sight...

Thanks and bye,

Eric
