I sold a bunch of items during a den clear out at the end of August. Now 6 weeks later I receive a note that the purchaser has finally made it to the post office 6 weeks later to see if the razor arrived. It was followed up with a paypal dispute. I no longer have any of the receipts as everything else was delivered a month and a half ago. Now I have no razor, no documentation to prove it, and will be out the cost of the sale.

This is really ridiculous.

That is bull! I would forward the buyers info to mods so that they can be aware of this individual.

What!? Was it an international sale? Makes more sense, I'm always a little worried about those.

If domestic, didn't you upload the tracking info to paypal? If you sent it to the buyer via email, don't you still have the email?

+1 This was my thought, also, Dale. What an unfortunate event and I hope it gets resolved to your benefit.

That's really too bad. And it's a shame, too, that it involved forum members. I hope it all works out well for you.

Dave, I am so sorry. If you choose in a next time, I can wholeheartly reccomend shipping using Priority Mail in Regonial Rate Boxes from the US Post Office.

Regional Rate box A is 10"x 7"x 4.75". If you are shipping on the East Coast it's approx $5.40 which is a lot more econonmical. As a bonus, you get home delivery included. You can actually ask for a signiture for delivery (another $2).

If you ship the same box from East Coast to West Coast it runs about $9.00 depending on weight.

If you create an account at the usps.com, pay for it online you save 0.50 cent.

There is some insurance to be had and extra to buy if you are inclined.

I hope this hasn't scarred you. People are usually wonderful. The difficult ones are taking their own faults on a seller.

Best of luck in the future!

Bruce, as bad as this sounds, there are two sides to this story so let's wait and see if anything else develops. Perhaps there will be a satisfactory outcome. [Image: thfingerscrossed.gif]

^ I know. I am mobile so could not find the "sarcastic" smiley.

Hopefully it all works out and there is a reasonable explanation.

And please see rule 10 of the BST Rules: "Any dispute arising should be settled privately between the parties concerned." Posting names involved in any dispute would violate this rule.

Dale,

Sorry to hear about this situation happening to you.

Theft and deception stirs a strong reaction among the members. I hope a better outcome is still possible.

I understand that and hope it gets handled this way too.

The thread was started, obviously people want to know, so I jokingly asked. It's my thought the thread should have never been started as its just a general warning but gives enough specifics for people to make speculations. It's easy to look up past sales, razor was mentioned and draw their own conclusions.

As was mentioned, we only have one side. He could have been hospitalized, family tragedy, deployed or who knows. It's the reason I always follow up daily and weekly with buyers after I don't here back they have received an item.

Again, my asking for names was done in jest and I believe the OP knew it and even if they didn't, I'm confident they are smart enough not to post it publicly.

If anything, this thread exemplifies the inherent risk that is potentially present with any BST transaction, for both buyer and seller. The hope in general is that by dealing with 'upstanding' members of the Nook, that this risk is mitigated somewhat. Unfortunately, this is not always the case ...

Wow, I'm sorry to read this. I think the suggestions above are good ones and I hope it all gets worked out satisfactorily for you.

Agree. Sales and trades are always a risk until both parties get their items, confirm they have received and are both happy with the transaction.

Luckily, I've only had one bad transaction and it was a purchase that got dealt with by Paypal.
