I own three Cobra razors.

My first I've owned from new and it retains it's original Bright Nickel finish. If I ever re-plate this one it will be with Rhodium.

I've just received from Dave Glynn of the UK (restoredrazors.com) a secondhand Cobra re-plated in Gold.

I own a third pre-loved Cobra and I am debating what finish to have Dave apply to this one.

I've narrowed my choices to Rose Gold or Black Chrome.

I do think a Black Chrome Cobra would be awesome, but I've been steered towards the Rose Gold and am favouring this choice presently.

I should add that the Cobra doesn't require re-plating, I just like the idea of variety.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

I'd say black chrome. After all, who has ever seen a rose gold Stingray Corvette... or a Shelby Cobra?

It might be noted that there is more to this choice than just appearance if you are intending to use the razor as opposed to simply displaying it.

There is a significant difference in the coefficient of friction between gold and chrome. The chrome razor will be much slipperier than the gold one.

Regards,
Tom

I love the black but it is too much to keep clean. Even the silver or gold plate gets scummy fast, but in black it shows up faster. It is nice to replate in black but only if you wont use it much.

Ben, I think the general view is to go with Black Chrome. Whatever you decide "Dave Glynn" will do an excellent job. He work is a very high standard.

Did I mention Black Chrome
