Received this beautiful (antique) gold Progress in excellent (close to mint) condition. Cleaned up very nicely and even took it apart for an internal Scrubbing Bubbles treatment. Smooth as silk and shaves great.
Also received a Weber ARC bulldog razor(not shown). A good month indeed.

That's a beautiful Progress.

I received a great haul today. All were gifts from my Dad.
A Vintage Wilkinson Razor Empire Model. It's in great shape and it's very complete. I haven't yet had time to research it but It seems to be a very nice piece. If anyone has any knowledge on this piece I would love to hear.
A Gillette Blue Star Lady DE Razor. I'm excited to shave with this. My goal is to convince my wife to DE shave with this.
A Vintage Currier & Ives Shaving Soap by Williams. I searched for this briefly online and couldn't find another. If anyone has info on this I would like to hear it.
I also received a EJ Pure Badger Brush with stand.

Thats a pretty old soap. I'm not a williams expert, but I believe it was a special chirstmas edition of the soap from the mid 50's or so

bought some C&E nomad soap and a puck of bath soap from a local soap maker in Butler, PA. The bath soaps smells amazing, I'm going to see if the lady makes any shaving soap.

I borrowed this photo from Emanuel (Oversaturn) because he takes such nice pictures.

I have a Semogue 1438 with the red bottom and have been on the lookout for a 1438 with the black bottom. The black bottom 1438 was the first production run that Semogue made when they reintroduced this brush. The black bottom was a mistake as the original 1438 had a red bottom.

Well, thanks to Phil, I got his last black bottom 1438 and now I have a matched pair of these great little face lathering brushes.

Christmas in April. I have wanted one of these German scuttles for quite some time but could never figure out which model I wanted. Thanks to conversations with Obie, I decided on this one. Only took 7 days to get it from Germany. I believe I am really going to enjoy this one.

Johnny, my dear friend, oh yes! That is a sweet Schwarzweisskeramik scuttle. That's the one I currently have and love it. At one time I had the large and loved it, too. Ansgar makes good stuff. Congratulations. The scuttle will serve you well.

Johnny or Obie, this might take the title of most knuckle-headed question of the day, but what's the idea behind the little upside-down teacup looking piece? Is it hollow, or a solid chunk?

No, Mr. Guy, that is a fair question. The little cup is meant to cover the brush in the bowl to keep it warm. I don't use it that way; rather, I fill it with hot water to dip the tip of my brush in if I feel my lather needs a touch of moisture.

Stay well,
Obie

Another thing that little lid/cup can be used for is to store soap in. Eventually that is what I plan on doing with mine. Per the maker:

After all of the hype, I decided to break down and try some of the Mike's Natural Soap shaving soap and bath soap. I ordered the Orange, Cedarwood, & Black Pepper shaving soap in a tin and a cake of his Rose & Cedarwood bath soap. Mike also very graciously sent along a sample of his Peppermint & Rosemary shaving soap. I have only had a chance to use the Orange, Cedarwood, & Black Pepper shaving soap and I have to say that, for me, the hype didn't begin to do it justice. It is superb!
