The song brings back a lot of happy memories of carefree childhood. I grew up in a neighborhood of families with lots of kids of similar ages, and we did everything together, including publishing a monthly newsletter (that outlined everyone's latest vacation details, new car or furniture, athletic awards, and illnesses and doctor visits) and putting on a talent show every 3 months or so. My nextdoor neighbor friend was named Ronnie, and so he and I formed a singing duo called Ronson and Johnson, and - in 1950s politically incorrect blackface, sleeveless shirts, and Mexican straw hats - we sang calypso songs in the shows, including Day-O. He played ukulele and I played bongo drums.
