Thinking of letting go of my Red Ring Eclipse (no crack, no damage but no Case) for a brush or special razor.

The razor was sent to Dave @ restoredrazors in the UK to repair the handle as it was not sitting properly in the head and was professional restored (see pic 4). he also plated the posts in rhodium as they showed a touch of wear and repainted the red tip but the rest of the razor and head is Original.

It's a gorgeous razor, but I rarely if ever reach for it. The magnet works in the handle, little to no signs of wear. Motif on razor head.

Looking for something special I can use, such as but not limited to the following brushes. I am open to offers of unique or sought after Vintage Razors (no FB or Slim's please) or other brushes too, this is just a "want list":

Rooney Finest
Rooney 2 band Gel Tipped
M&F Finest
Simpson 2 band (soft one)
Simpson Manchurian (funkier the handle material, the better)

Pictures below are considered the description, so feel free to ask questions via thread or PM, request more pics and/or fire off a trade offer.

Thanks for looking.

Mmm... Very tempting!

I have original generation gel tipped Rooney 2 band 1XL, 2XL, 3XL (all unused) and quite a few Simpson Manchurian brushes, but no Finest (anymore). Not sure I want to let any go, but I'd sure like to own this razor!

Only interesting vintage DE I still own is a NOS Gold Aristocrat complete with case, box, shipper etc (but it's missing the supplied blades as I took them out and gave them away to a gent that was desperate for that particular blade).

I am interested in your razor Bruce. I have several brushes, but also have my own brushes that I design with Shavemac that are one off's. I have done about 60 brushes with them, and have about 20 prototypes on hand at the moment to choose from that just need a nice new knot in them. If you look on Shavemac's website, you can see the first brush I did, it's called the Americana. Not sure if you'd heard of it, but you can google my name: Geoff Anderson and or the Shavemac Americana to learn a little bit about me. I look forward to speaking with you.

Regards,
Geoff

+1, it can be very mild when closed tight and quite efficient when opened up a bit, very versatile razor.

It has indicator marks on the handle, as seen in the 3rd pic that are used to indicate how aggressive or mild you want the setting.

I have used it fully closed and opened it up and the shave does vary from setting to setting

Lots of nice trade offers, but nothing that has been settled on.

I got sidetracked with a non-related D01 trade and a M&F trade that took some time to arrange.

Still looking and hoping for a Manchurian or Finest to try or maybe even an M7. Smile

If not trades can be completed, look for a sales thread closer to the end of the year. That way I can sell it outright and just buy want I want when it becomes available.

But for now, the Red Ring is still available for trade. Wink
