I bought another straight from WD and received it yesterday. I got a pretty good shave with it. I have a couple questions.

1. What can you guys tell me about the history of Wester Bros.? All that's on there is Solingen, Germany on one side and Blue Steel on the other.

2. How do you tell what size the razor is? I am guessing it's either a 5/8" or a 4/8".

I have had a few Wester Bros. straights and they were very good shavers, but mine were all the Manganese steel ones.

To tell what size of razor you have just measure from the top of the spine to the bottom of the cutting edge. Somewhere they have an online print out with different lines that mark each 1/16th.

A Straight Razor Ruler
Some folks go by the distance between the edge of the spine touching the hone and the edge. Be aware of that when you buy or sell.

Looks like it is a 6/8" according to the methods stated.
