Today's useless bit of trivia is that on this date in 1971, Harry Drake set the modern record for longest bow shot of an arrow, 1410 meters or 1854 meters (over a mile!)- depending upon one's source. He used a footbow, a contraption using the feet on the bow and shot from a supine position.

Which reminds me of another trivial fact, which is that one of my pet peeves is authors who use the word prone (which actually means lying face down) when they really mean supine.

John, I do know what prone means and now that you have posted it I remember supine, as well. Interestingly, because prone is heard so much more than supine it actually took your post here to jog my memory about supine's meaning. Thanks.

Oh yes, your trivia fact of the day was interesting, also, and I enjoy them.

I really doubt it. I think that, like the javelin throw, this is just about distance.
