Hello everyone. I started a new thread because the old one was getting a bit long in the tooth, but also because we are approaching things with a bit of a fresh start.

1. Website updates: The communications will be better, as mailto: links have been removed in favor of a purpose-built contact page. I've also moved Sonya's completed work to our own series of galleries.

2. More production time: Sonya has gotten more pottery time lately, and it has been a great thing.

3. Soap! I've decided I like making soap enough to want to try sharing the fruits of my labors. It's early days, yet, but look for Dapper Dragon soaps in the near future.

I hope to have more interesting things to share here soon.

Thanks,
Eric (and Sonya)

Great to hear it. I love my LadySea bowl I got from Maggard. Looking forward to see how the soaps turn out.

On the subject of soaps, I'd love to hear from people.

1. What's your favorite soap scent? (If it's a proprietary scent, like TOBS Mr. Taylor, maybe a type or description.)
2. What sorts of scents do you wish there were more of?
3. What's your favorite consistency of soap:
  • Soft (like Castle Forbes)
  • Croap (Like RazoRock, Mystic Water, or Barrister & Mann)
  • Hard (Mike's Natural Soaps, Provence Sante)

What are the interior bowl dimensions for the scuttle? How many oz of water does it hold with the bowl in place?

The inner bowl is approx. 4.5" wide and 2.5" deep.

They hold 10-12oz of water.

Sounds like things are going well!

To answer your questions...

1. Old School, (such as XXX, Tabac or DRH Marlborough), Lavender
2. Scotch, Woods (cedar, fir, balsam, etc), gun oil, honey, green tea that actually smells like green tea (perhaps like a nice Japanese sincha), coffee
3. Croap or hard, either way.

Sonya may be the only potter in North America who considers an episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to be a vital shipping tool.

Local Art Show and Charity Sale

Sonya will be selling her pottery, jewelry and knits at the Lakeville Area Art Center Holiday Sale on 11/26. The sale continues through 12/5 during normal LAAC business hours.[/size]

In addition to the artist and student sale tables, the Empty Bowl project will be selling hand-thrown pottery donated by local potters. All proceeds from these sales go to local food shelves.

If you're in the Twin Cities area, think about coming by!

We have listed two ready-to-ship, one-piece scuttles on the shaving pottery page.

We have one in tiger's eye:

And one in Purple Rain (Blue):

There should be no problem getting these scuttles anywhere in the continental US in time for Christmas. Canada is probably still in the window as well.

Update 11:55am: We also have 4 unglazed shave bowls and 3 unglazed shave mugs ready to glaze and ship out!

Though not specifically related to shaving, Sonya has added some jewelry to her Etsy store:

http://www.etsy.com/shop/Ladysea?section_id=7005384

On a related note, we're discussing whether or not it's worth it to just use Etsy as our storefront, and keep the website more informational. If you have opinions about that, let me know.

Sonya is scheduled for carpal tunnel surgery at the end of the month. When all is said and done it should be quite a relief, but it will mean 2 weeks when she can't throw new pieces.

She'll be stocking up some of the most popular types before then, but any custom orders that take place will have an extra two week lead time.

Sonya (LadySea) is laid up after carpal tunnel surgery right now, but she worked hard to build up some stock beforehand.

We've listed 4 unglazed 2-piece scuttles ($60 shipped), 4 shaving bowls ($25 shipped), and 3 shaving mugs ($25 shipped), all ready for you to pick your color.

Check it out at her shaving pottery page.

As always, she's happy to take on pre-orders or custom requests, there will just be a slightly longer lead time as she endures two weeks off from throwing new pottery.
